Making Financial Security Possible through Personalized Navigation Technology

+100 million

American adults struggle each month to balance expenses, savings, and debt.

For people living on low- to moderate incomes, building financial security is rarely as simple as following a budget. Income, debt, savings, groceries, housing, childcare, transportation, and public benefits are interconnected and constantly changing. Yet financial products and programs typically address one need at a time, leaving people to navigate fragmented systems and difficult tradeoffs on their own.

SaverLife is a nonprofit fintech designed around this reality. Drawing on insights from more than 800,000 members, financial data, and behavioral science, SaverLife turns a complex financial picture into personalized, actionable next steps.

Savings has long been the foundation of SaverLife’s work because a financial cushion can help households weather unexpected expenses and income disruptions without taking on debt. SaverLife members have collectively saved more than $1 billion, and 61% deposit at least $500 within six months of joining.

Personalized financial navigation at scale

Now SaverLife is using AI to make its platform increasingly personalized and responsive. Beginning with its conversational AI Financial Navigator and expanding to AI-powered experiences across the platform, SaverLife is building an interconnected experience in which member priorities inform what comes next, from building savings or addressing debt to increasing income or connecting to trusted resources.

The goal is not to provide more financial information. It is to reduce the work required to understand options, make decisions, and take action.

LaShette is a mother and grandmother living in Newark, New Jersey, who sees herself as, above all, the “family manager.” She has a good job at a university, so those around her assume she has it all figured out. But with a high cost of living and kids in college, she has little savings. And when her mother passed away from cancer, she was also forced to sell her family home to help cover assisted living care for her grandmother.

Now, at 40, she is going through the process of joining the Navy Reserves, to add another stable salary and gain access to VA homeownership loans. Every step of the way, she’s used SaverLife’s tools and guidance to make the tough decisions – from helping to negotiate a long-overdue raise to navigating the sale of her mother’s home. It’s given her the support and peace of mind required to get on the path to healthy savings and, eventually, homeownership.
